Cost of Living
Many Alberta families are struggling to make ends meet due to crushing grocery bills, high gas prices and unaffordable housing costs. Nancy empathizes with the stress the cost of living is causing Albertans and how it may contribute to a loss of faith in our governments. She understands that Albertans are sick and tired of working hard, having their pockets drained and feeling like they have no control over it.
Nancy wants to see an economic agenda for the province that ensures Albertans will not only survive, but thrive for generations to come. As an oil and gas spouse and a rural resident, Nancy is acutely aware of the importance of the energy and agricultural sectors to Alberta families and the economy, including those small and medium size businesses that support these industries. She also recognizes diversification and innovation within these industries, and the economy generally, is crucial to generating wealth for Albertans for the long-term.
Self-Determination
Nancy understands Albertans' desire for self-determination, for themselves and their province. She empathizes with their anger and frustration when it comes to the lack of regard for Alberta in Ottawa. Faraway politicians consistently make decisions that hurt Albertans – we pump massive wealth into the national economy just to get strangled by federal regulations.
Nancy believes Albertans deserve a real say in their own future. She supports direct democracy and a referendum on the province's future.
Immigration
Ottawa jammed up our schools and hospitals by mismanaging the borders with no regard for the infrastructure required to support the influx of people. Nancy wants to see exclusive provincial authority over our immigration numbers so we can build a system that actually benefits Albertans. She welcomes the skilled workers and qualified tradespeople who want to roll up their sleeves, contribute to the community and build a life here.
By shifting to a stricter merit-based model, we can plug critical labour gaps. Nancy will work to create a system that manages immigration intake and directly strengthens the Alberta economy and our communities.
School Choice & Parental Rights
The politicization of the classroom has shifted focus in education away from the pursuit of knowledge to the detriment of our children and their teachers. While Nancy firmly believes that classrooms should focus on foundational skills, she understands that this is not necessarily the case. Nancy supports the right of parents to decide what type of education and educational environment best-suits their child's needs and their family's values, and stands firmly behind choice in education in Alberta.
Nancy advocates for properly funded community schools, expanded funding for independent charter options, and protecting the homeschooling community. She understands it's a balance that must be achieved for children and families to thrive. Nancy will strive to protect educational choice from any form of provincial overreach.
Crime
Soft justice policies have turned rural Alberta into a dangerous playground for repeat, violent offenders who specifically target isolated properties because they know the nearest police detachment is miles away. Nancy demands a justice system that actually keeps dangerous predators behind bars instead of releasing them on bail. She will fight for properly resourced rural policing to get boots back on the ground immediately.
Nancy stands firmly behind property owners and the inherent instinct to protect one's family. She unapologetically defends your fundamental right to self-defence when you're forced to be the first responder on your own land.
Stop the Gun Grab
As a PAL holder herself, Nancy knows firsthand that licensed firearm owners are among the most vetted, background-checked, safety-trained citizens in the country. The federal government's mandatory buyback program targets over 2,500 legally-owned firearms, including common hunting and sporting rifles, punishing responsible and law-abiding Canadians while doing absolutely nothing to address real crime.
As your MLA, Nancy will fight to ensure the rights of every legal gun owner in Lac Ste. Anne-Parkland are protected. She stands firmly with Premier Smith in refusing provincial participation in the federal gun grab.
Accountability Pledge
Nancy commits to absolute transparency and accessibility for every single constituent. She believes politicians must explain their votes clearly and face the voters directly when things break down. Nancy actively invites voters to ask tough questions, demand real answers, and hold her strictly accountable for every promise she makes on the campaign trail.
